[video]/[audio] this some horseshit

[There is the ring of a group call through most everyone's devices, but on answering, there doesn't seem to be an answer at first. It looks like the phone was just left on the floor face up, and what everyone gets is the rather dull sight of an abandoned storefront's ceiling.

Before one can get the idea that maybe this was an accident and they should just hang up, a very white something looms over the screen. It's some kind of long creature-like face, horns or maybe ears splayed out on each side like a frilled collar, with a blue and black mane furling everywhere. The neck is long and seems to be plated, and one can get a glimpse of a lavender underbelly and white haunches before the face moves closer. On closer look, the metallic look the face seems to have is apparently the result of a very fine coat of hair-it practically sparkles despite the dull surrounding light.

The creature has startlingly blue eyes-eyes that don't seem amused, for one thing. That's the last impression one can get before it huffs and shakes its head, making a strange nickering sound when it does so.]

It's Yuusei.

[...That's Yuusei?

What a change from the last time he made a call, then! He raises one of his legs-and the video feed is briefly treated to the sight of what looks like a decoratively plated yet gangly leg, and what looks like a hoof, before he puts it back down out of sight.]

...I think I've turned into a horse.

[...

That's a horse?! ]

video

...Hello.

[ As Alisaie appears on-camera, she has more horns - a third coming up from the top of her head, matching her others - golden and pure black scales around the edges of her face. Large, dragon-esque wings lay behind her - she's changed, but she keeps a normal expression. It oddly... feels okay to her. ]

I... apologize for my outburst before. But I did not leave the population - I am in another city. And...

...those who came here before us have not changed like us. I have watched, tried to influence.

[ And they remained like they were. Not becoming a Primal like her - Alisaie has realised her body is remaining rather... normal. ]

Has anybody else altered more? We need to see if there are similarities between these alterations. If there is a way to figure them out. I think I will remain in this city for a while. It... is old.

Pearl Rock Bay action;

[Things since Maya's first changes have been more than a little frustrating. Being completely unable to dry off is really inconvenient, after all, for many reasons. But as a result, she's also been spending most of her time down at Pearl Rock Bay, and rather than get bored and sit around, she's been swimming.

Maya's been able to hold her breath for far longer than before, she's noticed-- a whole minute. It's let her do some foraging, and she's even caught a few fish over the past few days just so see if she could. Of course, she doesn't know much the difference between each fish, so she hasn't bothered trying to eat any.

Pulling herself out of the water in a full-coverage suit Maya returns to her things in hopes of going back to the city to find more information about those fish. She wipes her hands off on a towel and grabs her phone-- but quickly finds it slipping from between her now-wet-again fingers and falling onto the pebbles on the shore.

With a loud, annoyed groan, she tilts her head back and stomps a foot.]

This is the Wo-ho-hooooorst!

[She complains, before dropping the towel and hurrying down a few steps to where her phone has fallen, picking it up and wiping it off again before her hair starts dripping big ol droplets onto the screen.

Maya tosses the phone back at the towel and proceeds to enter the water again instead, unaware if anyone's seen her little tantrum.]

fate will not leave you, hate will not heal you [back-dated to around the 12th] [closed]

[ Noctis hadn't been doing much - not even sleeping. But when Prompto invited him to the beach? Heck yeah. And to meet a nice friend - Maya. Well - it'd be nice if she was a friend. He's not really sure if he can make friends, while he's feeling so lost and confused and hurt.

But he had gone there first so he didn't need to walk too much around them - he found it painful to stand on two feet. He was embarrassed about his pain okay - and his changes. With him, Stella had carried some of the supplies. (She had, by this point, not shown she could become a person. There's just this big birb carrying stuff, ready for Prompto to follow - and to meet Maya. She has a basket full of things for this happy day. Please let it go okay. Stella just wants to rest and stop panicking please let her do so.)

Time for a beach episode. I mean, there are some swimsuits packed. But... Noctis is sort-of. Naked, in the shade. Covered by the now-thick fur on his body, he's just there waiting. Stella, meanwhile, has walked out to meet with the two with a few chirps. ]

When U Realize U Have TWO Names Now [OPEN/VIDEO-JACK TIME]

AH YES UNNECESSARY PROSE )

[That kid from before Sure Does have a pair of eyes under her usual ones. She's opted to leave her gloves off at least though, so that's a thing. Though only slightly yellowed compared to her skin, it's a strange sight, especially when it's clear the bulk of the arms wasn't due to glove padding somehow.] ...Um...I was on a hill, earlier, [Still is, technically] and I realized I didn't say anything for a while.

[Ah.] Is everyone okay still?

[OPEN] Exquisite dead guy, outside my high-rise apartment.

[In a pavilion in Arcrion, there stands an android.

A stopped android.

The lights behind its eyes are dull, and it's just begun to gather sparrows - which have been polite enough not to do more than simply fly on, chatter to pals, and fly off so far, at least.

The reason? Mettaton's battery has registered in the rest of his body's system as having run out. He doesn't know it yet, because he's, well, unconscious, and he didn't anticipate it, because that isn't supposed to happen anymore.

He'll conk back on soon enough - but in the meantime!

Have anything in mind to do with the 'bot? Watch and wait for developments? Fiddle with it? Pose it, draw on its face, or what have you? Whatever you might do, you'll probably see movement on its part a short way in.]

[video]/[audio] maybe he needs a hand

[It's been a good week, week and a half since the first batch of people were brought to this land. Several of them have met up and separated with a plan in mind, and most if not all of them have gotten some kind of magical phone from Yuusei. Everyone Yuusei knows is getting hit up with a message on those very same phones, those able to get video message doing so, and if not, they get a voice message instead.

At first, there's only the sound of clattering, as if someone's fumbling with the phone. The image shakes, and even when it focuses on Yuusei the image is hardly steady, constantly shaking, like he can't keep a good grip on it. He looks...pale. Not in a sick way, but like someone slapped a coat of paint on him. It can't be the video feed's quality, because the (stolen) jacket he's wearing is just as bright as ever, but he still looks washed out. Anyone who hasn't seen him recently might be surprised by his new head of hair, too-it was wild before, but now it's somehow grown into a mane long enough to spill over his shoulders, blue streaks also appearing in it to make a full on tri-colored mess.]

Ah. Everyone-

[CLATTER. The phone slips out of his hand again for some reason, and he hisses as he fumbles for it.]

Sorry. I-my hands- [CLICK CLACK CLICK] -damn-!

[Give him a moment. It looks like he's settled for trying to prop the phone against something, and when that's finally done, he clears his throat.]

Sorry for the trouble. I just ran into a...troubling development.

[He holds up his hands, and for those with video, they can finally see just why Yuusei has been having so much trouble handling the phone. They're just as pale as the rest of his skin, but more importantly-]

My hands...my fingers started merging together. I only have three fingers on each hand, now.

[And what fingers they are! Long, pale, and spindly, with the ends flattening into almost needle-like tips, the middle fingers somewhat bigger and more club-like than the others. They're constantly quivering, like Yuusei can't quite control them right, and his whole hand itself seems to be shaking.]

I can't-achk-It hurts, trying to move my hands. Like pins and needles under my skin. Any projects I'm working on, I think there might be a delay for the time being.

[Obviously. Still, he looks reluctant to admit it. Almost as if on cue, the phone slides out from where he'd propped it up and falls flat on the table with a loud, final CLACK, and he sighs, seemingly giving up on trying to mess with the phone. You're gonna have to deal with a slightly off-center image of Yuusei bending over the phone now, deal with it.]

I just wanted to take the opportunity to ask-has anyone else been experiencing any strange changes? I know I'm not the only one, but a transformation of this level...it has to be a result of what those people did to us, I'm sure of it.

[[ooc: hey ho it's another group mingle post, this time network style. same threadjacking policy applies, just go for it, interrupt each other, have a blast, make fun of yuusei's hair, whatever.][

[OPEN] I am this great, unstable mass of blood and foam.

[Something's come over Anthony in the past few days.

Maybe it was loneliness, maybe it was the simmering of shame over his own cowardice in stalling in the wilderness, maybe it was the unexpected and unsettling lack of change or oddity he was experiencing, other than when that young girl'd made her downright sudden appearance.

In any case, he's restless now. The relative silence has gotten to feel smothering. The trees feel like they're closing in and when he looks at open spaces, he sees them pulling off of the landscape at an edge and rolling themselves up - him with them - like scrolls. Staying put's going to madden him again; God help him, he needs to leave.

He's already made to. He found a city in the distance - no more delaying or wading; he thought, with a pathetic pang in his heart, that perhaps this is some sort of place of second chances, and maybe he can fight to be part of something again, to deserve it, to atone - and for the first time, he didn't feel a lick of fear or misgiving on the thought of approaching. If it's crawling with pain, or evil, or wrongness, or if he's failing a test of his mind by going there... then he'll just have to face it. Have to. What's coming to him.

He fixed his mind on it, and began walking.

It's twilight now, and he's recently started following a road of continuous flat, gray stone.

And this consistent, purposed movement has left it unignorable how hungry he is. He'd foraged, back where he'd been lying low, but - it occurs to him that, as with speaking to people, he hasn't eaten anything in over a thousand years. He hadn't needed to, technically, but setting the past week against that - he's starting to feel his head swim...

And then... a shape on the side of the road catches his eye. He freezes in his tracks for a moment. Blinks wide at it.

It's a dead doe.

He takes a huffing breath. It's voiced; becomes in part a thin, cushioned sigh.

No, he doesn't have anything to prepare a deer with. But, in spite of himself, he can't seem to make himself care about the conditions. Ohh, yes, it'll have to do...

He heads for it with intent. Gives a quick eyes-narrowed look up and then down the road, in case anyone's watching. No -- no one is...

And with that, he drops onto all fours. Dives onto the carcass face first and starts tearing in. He doesn't question it - too busy eating for that, plus it's comfortable. He didn't realize he was as worn out as he was on top of being hungry until now - feels each of his joints pop, shifts his weight subtly across each of his arms and legs to ensure none of them are missed...

If you stumble by after he's gotten into dinner too much to remember to keep checking for witnesses to his roadkill-eating, then you'll see that the roadkill-eater has the face of a bird and that wrapped in warped, ragged sleeves and leggings, the bends and shapes of their limbs are more quadrupedal than bipedal.]

(no subject)

[It's early evening, just as the sun sets in a cascade of reds and oranges that from the other side of the sky there is a sudden intense flare of sickening green to the south, the shade often associated with radioactivity, not healthy plantlife. It's bright enough to throw shadows in the opposite direction, briefly leaving everything for an alarming distance with two shadows, pointing due north in stark contrast with the long eastward shadows of the setting sun.

The greenish light fades before the sun sinks below the horizon, the ground giving only the faintest of shivers some moments later as far north as Haven and Twinsgrace in time to a distant, strangely long roll of thunder. It can be seen far further away than it can be felt, and in its wake life resumes fairly promptly.

Rumors spread fast. An airburst asteroid, perhaps? A comet?? A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION???

And far to the south sits a lone saiyan on a bloody outcropping of rock, staring listlessly at a terrifyingly wide and long dredged line bisecting the small valley before him and a perfectly round hole straight through the mountain directly across there, molten rock cooling around its edges in an angry but dulling red glare. Blood splatters and streaks the rock from quite a height up, the pattern suggesting something or someone had fallen and repeatedly attempted to catch themselves.

Or himself, as the case might be, as those stains and smears lead right to the seated Broly, blood soaking him as well.. and the two new wide appendanges sprawled in awkward angles to either side of him. Long and broad and delicately scaled, they look awfully like unusually large bat wings .. if bats had scales, and if one washed off the coating of drying red. The ragged wounds they emerge from bleed only slowly, but steadily.

He doesn't seem to notice. It's not certain he's really noticing the mountain he's staring at either.

That's it. That's it, that was all he could do.]

harmony in chaos [ota]

a:
[ If you happen to be around the northwest of Arcrion, there is an odd stall set up near a busy road. A rather messy-looking man - wearing clothes not commonly seen around this sort of place - has set up his own small shop for knitted goods made of oddly soft wool. Shirts, hats, wristbands and scarfs - they're made rather well. If approached, he will give a smile. ]

Pray accept my appearance - I desire to make my way. These are made of special wool - I'll not charge much.

[ He knows it's warm to people, but being a god of flames means he can't feel the cold. Who knows, it might be colder later? If you touch the wool, there is a lingering warmth. It's not love, it's side-effects of being shaved from Belias, the Gigas. ]
b:
[ But even after selling quite a bit of his knitted goods - even after all that - Basch is not happy. Why? Because he was summoned for no purpose that he can see. Those who summoned him fled from the Gigas.

He was taken from happiness. And so, to let out some of that anger, he has shifted to his summoned form in the Gardens... to punch trees. To leave a mark. But he seems... approachable. For a giant monster, who has changed from how he looked - though you wouldn't know it. Because he hadn't been seen before. He's grown taller, and has gotten feathers coming out as a tail - along with this damn overgrown wool. After punching a few trees and watching them burn with his flames, he's moved to just sit down by his destruction. ]

Take what is lovely, leave before the rain hits [OPEN]

[The short version is: free yacht!

The long version, for the narratively curious, is that this time the Joyous Nerd Convention made the mistake of trying their summoning ritual on a boat. When Dr. Lalonde's confused, but affable attempts at conversation led to the appearance of chains, she promptly noped out of that non-consensual clusterfuck and threw her summoners overboard.

She left them a life raft, but she took their champagne and other victuals. A woman has needs.

Now, after a day spent lounging on a deck chair in Pearl Rock Bay sipping bubbly right out of the bottle, Dr. Lalonde's making harbor in the port of Arcrion. She's not terribly fussed, winking and flirting outrageously with any sailors who come to help her tie her new boat (to be rechristened The Rosie once she gets some paint) and paying for their trouble with the cash she found aboard, but it's also clear the woman knows her way around a boat.

No, it's stepping onto the dock that's a problem. She is super drunk. Giggling and somehow still the picture of class in her lab coat/dress and heels, she staggers her way towards the city proper, holding onto various passersby's shoulders and smiling brightly up at them.]

Thanksh, sailor! Hic!

[She laughs and pats their backs and continues on her merry way. After all, what port city doesn't put their finest drinking establishments close to the docks? Brawny seamen and abundant booze. This must be her eternal reward.]

These days I've been taking that heavy so lightly [Group text; action for Arcrion]

That I might float away completely in my psyche )

anybody find out anything about some group called the joyous???
when i described the people who summoned us, that's the answer i got. "that sounds like the joyous order." but the coffee guy didn't know much more than that. just that they're a cult and he doesn't think they're ""dangerous.""
if you've got any other intel pls share with the class! thnx!
- prompto a.

[Anyone visiting the park in Arcrion this fine day may come across a familiar blond supine on a bench, one freckled arm thrown over his face, looking a little washed out as a Maltese, a Dalmatian, and a big, fluffy mutt frolic nearby.]

IT'S A TWOFER [OPEN]

[The Hills of Neloi & Westermiln | The 6th]

[After a few times creeping in and out of a camping group, Reira, a new phone, and her personal headspace companion are off on their own once again. It's better that way, she thinks. As much as making new friends would be nice, she doesn't enjoy causing the stress and worry she's seen from anyone present during one of Zarc's tantrums. What started as avoidance for the sake of caution becomes avoidance for the sake of 'care'. As she wanders along the highway and eventually off the beaten path into more hilled terrain, this becomes 'easier' to accept. It's quieter here.

And even Zarc can't whine forever (though he does his best to try).

It is perhaps mid morning, after sleeping in under some tree cover, that it hits. For the most part, she hasn't been unaware of the changes her limbs are going through-obviously the arm with a glove on it was obvious, but she can see the ever growing scales along her other elbow, as well as her knees. When she wakes in the morning to roll her sleeve back and see not only bulking scales and 'muscle' (or at last what looks like it) gathering around some kind of violet stone, she feels a chill run down her spine.

It looks like Dark Rebellion's stones.

...It frightens her. Despite knowing it'll only encourage Zarc to laugh more in her head, all she can think is if this would have happened if Yuuya had resisted more. A slow, gradual descent into-
]

NGHK-

[That is about when she jumps, a shock of pain different from Zarc's typical tantrums, shoots through her rear. Zarc, in fact, makes an enormous deal about it not even being him...for whatever reason, something he'd only vaguely grumbled about once or twice while she considered the 'zarc-like' limb changes. But the girl shouts, and runs, blindly pacing the tree with her hands at her backside as if trying to find some kind of animal biting there.

There's no animal, but when she finally ends up tripping face first on the ground thanks to the aimless running-
] Yy-LLFP!

[...Sproof.

That sure is a big fluffy tail seemingly made of nothing but feathers and down.
]

[Now I Am Here, Now I Am There- | The 8th]

[She....

Is lost.

Reira holds her middle, stomach growling a bit as she wanders. It's been a few days now-there's been lots of berries at least, so she's managed to at least eat. And she managed to wander near a river too, which helps. But she's lost. She's lost, and all she can think of is finding another campfire, or finding Yuusei, or...

She could probably use the phone but admittedly the thought doesn't actually occur to her since she's not used to using phones anyway. It doesn't help that her tail is an inch or two longer either. It still looks like it's all feathers and fluff, but there's definitely something long in there, somewhere...

It's tucked in her shorts right now though.

Reira wanders. She wanders, and wanders, until finally she just squeezes her eyes shut and stiffens. She's lost, she's hungry, and Zarc is going on and on about it and whining about how she's in over her head, this is all her fault, she was at least better off with the 'duelist' (because at least then he could maybe fight the guy)-
]

Just STOP!

[Rather suddenly there's a burst of flower petals, feathers, and some kind of wind-blown dust.

And then suddenly she's elsewhere.
] Mnh?

[This happens more than once, actually.] AHH-!

[Too many times.]

KNGH- [Suffice to say she looks pretty frazzled whenever she finally comes to some kind of stop for....however long she has.]

don't let the bedbugs bite [open]

[One batch of summonings ends in the escape of the summoned. Meanwhile, many miles away, another man escapes only into the sheltering arms of sleep.

A pair of horns sits atop his head, crusted faintly with blood from their eruption and making him lean forward with their weight; otherwise, his new troll nature is barely evident. He wonders, at first, why he is awake. Then, he realizes he is asleep.

And so, he goes wandering.]

[ The darkest hour comes before the dawn. At least, that's what Stella believes - and that's why she awakens to watch sunrises. That is, if she had managed to sleep. But after watching everything over the past two days, she barely slept last night. She'd noticed, however, her charge had been growing... hair.

A lot of hair. Almost a mane, over his shoulders and head. It didn't seem too much of a worry, however... should it be? He's felt different for the past few days. As long as it's not much, it's fine.

It still feels the same, even across the Stars.

[Night, and a campfire outside of town, in the lightly forested scrubland of the Neloi Flats. A good rendezvous point for a ragtag bunch of abductees; a point of interest for any stragglers, where fellow otherworlders can be found.

Just follow the smell of cooking meat. There's...there's a lot of it.

And while you're all feeding yourselves, there's a lot to talk about. For instance: who the fuck were the people that brought everyone here? What did they want? Who's interested in finding a way back home, and what's the best way to tackle that question? Where will everyone stay? How will everyone get along in this place?

All that and more, at the campfire.]

New World New You

-> (1)

It begins with a bang; then, disorientation, darkness, dismayed voices, and spells that weigh down your limbs like heavy shackles...

The people keeping you captive seem as unsure as you are of what just happened, and argue and mutter amongst themselves, though they don't hesitate to restrain you, chain you to a pipe in the wall of this bottom floor of an underground parking garage, or lock you alone into a smaller room of the abandoned building where the summoning was held. You seem to unnerve them; they don't want to look you in the eye, and if they have to touch you to lock you up, they do so gingerly, nervously.

But maybe, once they leave you to yourself to go and argue and regroup in private, you're not quite alone? You weren't the only person to come out of the array. You have at least one companion in your confusion, one person restrained like you and not wearing the cultists' strange masks. Take comfort, take inventory, and prepare for anything.

-> (2)

The Joyous were prepared for you to attempt escape. Their preparations don't quite match what they got, but even poorly calibrated spells will do something, and the effects of knockout darts and magically reinforced walls don't discriminate. It's time to blow this popsicle stand...

...But you may want to take a moment to comb the area - once the Joyous have had enough time and reason to weigh their options, they'll run, leaving behind the incriminating results of their "botched" summoning. Those less able to escape confinement under their own power may need a hand, or to band together, or, at worst, to wait quite a while for locals to stumble across them...

-> (3)

You step outside into an unfamiliar town; small, sparse, just off a major highway running through the Neloi Flats. A perfect place for a cult looking for an unoccupied building, because there are a lot of those here, as though the town's peak has come and gone, leaving behind rusty signs for roadside attractions and a main street retinue of shops made of sheer stubbornness and spite.

There's not much direction here. There are locals, who will be confused by you, possibly wary and disbelieving. There's a temple, small like the village but likely to have charity you need right now. There's a highway, and following it in either direction will take you to one of two very different cities.

There's a whole country of possibilities before you, in fact. What ones will you chase, and will you do it alone?
