prompto talks to a fluffbirb [closed]
[ The darkest hour comes before the dawn. At least, that's what Stella believes - and that's why she awakens to watch sunrises. That is, if she had managed to sleep. But after watching everything over the past two days, she barely slept last night. She'd noticed, however, her charge had been growing... hair.
A lot of hair. Almost a mane, over his shoulders and head. It didn't seem too much of a worry, however... should it be? He's felt different for the past few days. As long as it's not much, it's fine.
But she's sitting, looking out to the rising sun. ]
It still feels the same, even across the Stars.
[ She's waiting by Noctis, for Prompto. Because... she needs to talk to him, alone. And isn't this the best way? Wait for him to wake up and gently goad him until they can discuss serious matters. ]
no subject
[ They were... talking? Earlier? He didn't even know she knew Common, and now this? He'd need to ask her about it. He raises his voice a little, trying his best not to just flop backwards again. ]
But if you were captured - if all of this went down and I don't even remember?! That's not what a Hero does. I-- I should have been there. Nobody hurts my friends, Pokemon or man,
no subject
[That's both a relief and not at all, because he has no idea how to explain this stuff. Prompto breathes out through his mouth and looks out across the field, fidgeting with his hands.]
That's. Definitely not your fault, bro. I mean, that--that it happened, and that you don't remember.
[He drags his fingers through his hair and tries to shake his thoughts physically into order.]
I'm, um. Pretty sure we're from different worlds? Somehow.
no subject
But at least Noctis is back to giving pleased looks and shifting a little closer. ]
...We're still friends, right?
[ If Prompto is from another world, that's the first thing he's concerned about. But biting his lip a little, Noctis adds: ] It'd be nice. I-- don't have many friends. There's Stella, and the other guys, and a few other Plasmas'... but that's it.
no subject
Of course we're still friends!
[He reaches over to hook his arm around Noct's shoulders, so happy that this--this is what's most important to Noct, too.]
There isn't a single thing that could change that, dude. Noctis and Prompto, together till the end! They'll have to carve it on our graves. ...Later. Much later. Like, a hundred years from now. I don't intend on having a grave any time soon, so you better not, either, okay?
no subject
...Are they ready yet? ]
No way we're going to die. Not until we get home, at the very least. Together.
[ Congrats, you've got Noctis wanting to follow you to your home. And most likely bringing his Prompto. Because he doesn't wanna lose any friend. ]
...Guess... you'd wanna know more about my home, though. Yours doesn't have Pokemon?
no subject
Pokémon, [He repeats, testing the word. It's a fun one.] Like Stella? No, nothing like that. [A smiling nod.] But we do have chocobos. Which are awesome.
[He glances back at Noct, then at the ball Stella disappeared into.]
Aaaare all Pokémon like her?
no subject
Chocobo. They sound... nice. Wonder if I'll see one someday?
[ But at the other question, Noctis then... begins to fiddle with his wrist-watch. Well, it looked bigger then one and -- well, thats certainly a holographic screen. What sort of tech does this guy have? He's still remaining sleepily next to Prompto, though. ]
Stella's special. She's a Togekiss. There's over 800 different kinds. But she's the only Togekiss I've ever seen. I've got data on quite a few - after Iggy and Gladio got back from Alola, they let me copy their pictures.
[ Well, the pictures of their Rotom friend. Not as good as they could have been. ]
no subject
Eight hundred different kinds? Whoa, dude, we're gonna be here all day.
[An idea strikes, and he looks up.]
Well, hey! It wouldn't be fair for me to ask all the questions, right? Why don't we take turns? I ask a question, you ask a question. It'll be fun and educational.
no subject
...Sure. That sounds nice.
[ He can learn. The Hero is meant to know a lot - and besides, it can help with that niggling feeling, right?
Even if, honestly, he has no idea why they can't stay here all day talking about their homes - what they need to catch up on. Perhaps they'll make it to town... and then he can sleep, right?
He's so curious. ] If you don't have Pokemon - are Choc-hobo [ he's still learning how to say these words ] your only creatures?
no subject
[Fact. He offers Noct first pick of the eggs so he can talk with his hands, spreading his fingers out wide.]
We have dogs and cats, and all sorts of other animals. ...And monsters. But those are kind of cool sometimes, too, as long as they're not trying to eat us. Which I guess they usually are.
no subject
Before concern enters his eyes, between awkward bites. It's burned. ]
...They try and eat yo-- us regularly? Are you provoking them, Prompto.
[ He had to ask. ]
no subject
[Fighting monsters: Not even once, bro. Prompto tries some of his own cooking and makes a face. Aw, man, he misses Iggy.]
no subject
[ He's ribbing Prompto a little, as he takes another bite. Which seems quite different then the Noctis he knew... he's not being bratty. Too much, he's still making his own faces. ]
...You're a fugitive. [ Wait, is Noctis smiling at that? What the hell. He adds, after a little pause ] Um. Team Plasma - my family and guard - aren't entirely... following the laws. They're unfair to my friends.
no subject
Hm. That seems right.
[He nods and continues to graze gamely upon the eggs, because Prompto Argentum a picky eater is not.]
We're fighting for what's right, too. My versions of us, I mean. Trying to restore light to the world and all those, you know, heroic kind of ideals.
no subject
[ Noctis has stopped on a certain picture, of a mural of a black dragon. And is smiling a little, even as he decides to return to his apple instead of the rest of this egg. You can have it, Prompto. ]
We'll get you back. I'm sure he'll be waiting for you - if I was your King [ which he will most likely continue to see himself as, ] I would be fighting to find you.
[ the irony, can you smell it over the burned eggs ]
...it's your turn for a question.
no subject
I--I know. Heheh.
[He won't give up, not ever, not until Noct comes to find him and tells him that he is the real Prompto. That he'll see past his hurt again.
Appetite dampened somewhat, Prompto picks at the egg until he comes up with a question.]
Do we have fun? I mean, between running from the law and helping everyone.
no subject
...Well, I don't run from the law too much. I... rarely go outside. [ Not since the accident - Noctis rubs one of his now-showing-scarred arms. ] Not my job.
[ It sounds bad, doesn't it, saying it like that. But he's just biting into his apple more - and moving to another piece of fruit. ]
But in the Palace, I get whatever I want. And you'd show me all sorts of photos when you visited.
...So... I guess we have fun.
no subject
[That's so different from their road trip across Eos, it takes Prompto aback a little. He pauses, then waves his hand in a broad gesture to take in everything around them.]
Then we should explore! It doesn't look like there's anything dangerous out here, so, come on. We've got plenty of time to get to the city and try to track down those cultists.
[Then, in the voice of someone who knows exactly how tempting he's being:]
We can go fishing.
no subject
[ They created Genesect, which savaged him - how dare they mix science and his dear friends? But you get him to smile, a tired smile. ]
Nothing here could hurt us. [ Even if it's dangerous. ] We've got Stella - she'll protect us. [ She'll protect both of them... in her own way. ] But-- I'd like that. To go fishing, I mean. It's different fishing in a stream.
[ He's still Noctis, king of fishing. Even if for the past years, it's just been him catching Pokemon who've been brought into his little cage inside a larger, unknown cage. Games - nothing serious. ]
no subject
And he saw those scars on the Noct in front of him, too. He puts on a smile and a big thumbs-up.]
We'll fish in every stream, dude. And I won't even complain about how long it takes.
no subject
...You can complain, if you want.
[ He says, softly, beginning to rub against him again. ]
I'm your King, but - we're friends. Friends complain.
[ A pause. And then he smiles, thinking of the fishing he's done before. ]
...That might be a better breakfast.
no subject
[If Noct doesn't like waking up to burnt eggs, maybe he should get up a little earlier and take matters into his own paws.
His smile turns hopeful, though, and even if Noct's sudden nuzzly affection is strange, it's welcome in the way that Prompto welcomes all cute animal behavior. Almost without thinking, he rubs his hand in Noct's new fur as if he really were a cat.]
Maybe lunch, though? If you think you can handle it.
no subject
However, he does give a little mock-pout at Prompto. He sleeps perfectly fine thank you very much. ]
I can handle...
[ ...There's another pause. Yes he likes this a lot. But also: ] How.
[ He doesn't have a rod - and even if he likes Stella, she isn't a Pokemon who fishes well. She's not even a fish. (Yet.) Maybe they'll need to go into town. ]
no subject
[He reaches up to flatten some of his own hair back, frowning thoughtfully at the horizon.]
I guess I could... go into town and get a part-time job, maybe, and earn enough gil to buy a rod for us? Probably can't do it in time for lunch, but I can try. How much do those run, anyway?
